The Case-IH wheels lessen side wall compaction in damp conditions because of the tappered indent next to the furrow.

Well he is also putting on seed firmers,took off the cast iron closing wheels and put on spade type closers.Then took off the unit coulter and put on trash row cleaners this to go along with the Rawson three coulter set-up on the front of planter. Most of what he is doing is to get rid of sidewall compaction,he has been no-till for about ten years and seems to finally know what works and what doesn't.The sad part is I think it changes from one area to another and what works for him may not work for somebody else. He also is putting his nitrogen down as liquid at planting time,he has it tied into the rawson deal.and dribbling pop-up with the keetons,this along with some regular starter.Using basis gold and banvel for weeds.
