No. They should be separate just like 7040. One or the other level would be running about 1.5" high if my memory serves me right. Running oil to high will cause more heat and HP loss. Not a big deal though as long as you don't have bearing going out causing seal to be out of register. I think there are at least a couple machines out there that had a slow oil transfer problem so rather than fix it they just hooked a hose from one drain plug to the other to equalize levels. There is a couple areas that oil can transfer. Seal in pump which would continually transfer until oil level got very high. Seal on drive shaft for hydralic pump. Them first two things would be fairly easy to fix. Then there is the seal on top shaft which would only transfer oil at high speeds. last and most difficult is seal on ring gear pinion. Oh yea there is a very large core plug in bottom of range transmision and that would be big job to correct. All this stuff very rare. First thing to do if rear end is getting fuller and fuller is to change filters and make sure everything is assembled proper. Hard to say on your tractor. Maybe someone found a spot to drill hole to cure a slow transfer situation.
