Combines 7050 hydraulic noise

Our 7020 and 7080 both make that noise too and we have never had to replace a pump or anything in them. i wouldnt worry about it too much unless its just gotten a lot worse. Ours sounds the worst like back by the rear end but we have had no problems thus far.

You should install a 3000PSI oil pressure gauge in tee that located at right rear of tractor. You'll find one port on tee is caped and that is where you need to plum into. You should have 350-500PSI there when levers are not pulled and 2000-2500PSI when a lever is pulled as long as no couplers are hooked to anything or if they are the cylinder would have to come to end of stroke. That pump should be pumping nearly no oil when levers are in hold so I doubt a supply problem to pump. Extremely rare to have noisy pump when not doing any work to speak of. Make sure main pressure pipe out of pump is not rubbing on aux fuel tank which can make a bunch of noise. Do you have 3 point hitch and do you use itIJ let us no what your pressures are. Did you replace first pump for this reasonIJ

simple fix. let three point arms down just a little and noise will go away. then adjust three point linkage.

do as dan said about the gauge at the pto valve. to get stand by pressure all valves will need to be in a neutral mode. i'm guessing that three point is still trying to lift after reaching max lift.

Pressure at PTO clutch port is 500 PSI. With lever pulled pressure is 2500PSI. No 3 point hitch on this one. Has been making this noise for a long time and is sometimes worse than other times. There is a lot of vibration on pressure line from pump even though there is only 500PSI on standby mode. I changed the pump 10 years ago (or more, time goes by far too quickly) due to oil leakage.

well the pressures are okay. wondering now if the filter is opening the canister far enough. the screen on the short filter may have crushed itself enough over the years and not allow enough oil to get to pump. hopefully you are using current agco filters of right length. since the noise goes away under load tells me that the pump is okay. flow rater will tell if 20 gpm is reachable at 2000 psi.

You may try inspecting the rubber compression rings where the suction tubes for the pumps go into the differential housing. We found that on our 7040 they had dried out_hardened to the point they were allowing air into the suction line, making the pump cavitate. They may not be dripping oil, but can still allow air in.

Good point, Dairyman, I'll check out those rubber rings. I know they'll be hard as they have never been changed.

You say it makes more noise at 500PSI than 2500. Do you hear this in the cabIJ That is normally a high pitch fibration line so it needs to be secured good and not rub on anything. From time to time on the 8000's where they used a hose to go from pump to valve it would rub on cab when mispositioned and it would sound like hydralics were coming apart. You got me on why your pump is noisier at standby than at relief. Just don't make sense for pump is not flowing any oil to speak of and holding just a small amount of pressure. Maybe someone has made up hose and it flexs a bit at low pressure and rubs on something and at high pressure hose clears whatever it may be hitting. Power steering gear pump charges that piston pump. Does steering seem OK even at idle and does it change the noise at allIJ
