SOUNDS like low geroter pump flow. get the trans lube pressure below 1800 light functioning and after warming up, see if it goes out. The gerotor pump is the pump that sticks in the rear housing and sucks oil from the middle compartment. It has a strainer that has to be pulled before you can pull the pump. the correct way to do this is flow rate the gerotor pump, but by what you say, might as well get ready. Another quick check is to hold down the high button on the floor and release the clutch - get ready it will probalby pop the clutch plates in and jerk hard. It takes more pressure to hold in low range than high. If it takes off in high but not low - again low flow and pressure at low RPM. Trying to set up the pressure with no flow is counter productive.

Thanks for the info. I will take a look at this this weekend when I get back to little operation. When you say gerotor pump is this the three section pump on the belly of the tractor on the right side if you are sitting in the seatIJ It has a metal strainer about the size of a fruit jar on it that must be removed to pull the pump. The trasmission light usually stays on. Does the whole pump have to be rebuiltIJ And is there a rebuild kit that can be boughtIJ If so what is the part number that I need.

Your right it is the rear most section of pump stack that screen fastens to. You may still have smaller pump in that tractor which I believe was only 14GPM. Newer gerotor pump section puts out more like 18GPM. Gerotor section comes as matched set and larger housing that will accept it is sold separate. When tractor is warm and operating fine what RPM does light go out atIJ When tractor decides to go does it snap in hardIJ If it snaps in hard and light goes out prior to 1800RPM when hot you may be looking at hard seals in Power director clutch. This can happen to old tractors if scavenger pump in front housing loses its prime. If pump loses its prime the clutch area will over fill on oil which heats up oil to the point rubber seals get hard. Some guys have bought themselves some time before seal job by dumping 4 to 5 cans of STP motor oil treatment into dipstick hole in cab. A little more info will help. Good luck
