Haven't had it happen for a couple years but once had my '98 9610 die on me while going down the road after turning on warning lights. 71E came up on the monitor. After that it would come up occasionally, but engine would always start. I remember cleaning plug on ECU with contact cleaner. Still did it but problem went away on its own and haven't had it since. I know this probably won't help much but thought you'd like to know.
