I think around 44000, 1000 pto, duals, 4 remotes, rear tires are 75%, seems real clean and tight.

We had a two speed PTO installed in our 7240, the stock 1000 RPM PTO is larger I think...Anyway we find the two speed PTO to be a lot handier, plus the 1000 shaft is 100 HP tractor size...We use it mostly on a vacuvator but have used it on fertilizer spreader when it was the only tractor there...cost of new two speed PTO is about 1900 dollars. Be sure the tractor shifts right, the nitrogen filled shifter deals may need attention, the only thing we have had to do with ours. Best driving tractor since the 4020.

"Best driving tractor since the 4020." I don't know why it hurts a little when you put it that way.;0) Chads

I know, but its the truth, don't you thinkIJ I liked the way the 4020 drove, didn't like the way it held up...But I was young then and didn't have any sense...Thought every tractor had to have its wick turned up to earn its keep...There oughta be a shot for that kind of disease. -)

I liked the way the 4020 drove but really didn't like the way it operated overall. The levers on the early ones were all in the wrong places. I never got to run a side console. The trans was a pain on a square baler if the windrows were uneven. 3 pt capacity was also pretty bad as hauling one decent sized round bale made it light on the front end. And yeah, the motors etc. really didn't hold up so good. There were a lot more overhauled every 3000 hours than weren't. I was always happy to get off of it, and go climb on one of our 966's, even prefered the 460 to square bale hay. Overall, our 7120 is the nicest tractor to operate I've ever been in very many hours. Everythings where it ought to be, shifts good, steers good, brakes good. Really nice tractor. My 5140 is super too, but I suppose that oughta be for another thread.

I got a 5140 too. It is a four wheel drive with 5000 hrs on havent done anything to it except a pto clutch that wasnt the tractors fault(hired hand thought he could get the blower unplugged be slipping the pto.) They brought out the 7230 yesterday and everything seems real good, drives good. Except when you put it in forward gear sometimes it doesnt take off like it is suppose to when not using the clutch, I will be asking the dealer today.

If you try to slip them into the second range without the clutch I think you could get a low pressure signal and it will kick out the trans for safety. You should just step on the clutch and it'll go. We almost always use the clutch on ours anyway, just out of habit. I have a helluva time getting Dad to use the shuttle on the Maxxum. Chads
