Know what you mean about fuel usage, it was one of the first things I noticed when we went from a 510 to a 750. 750 had a hydro, and the 510 was a gear drive. There was quite a bit of a increase in capicity also. You might want to check your cap. Mine went bad, and I had trouble with it running over. Gauge could be bad also. Good luck Joe

Bernie, I've got a 760 hydro and the radiator would always build up pressure and I'd lose some coolant out the over flow hose. Put a new cap on it and finally put an overflow tank on it and that seemed to take care of the problem for about three years. The last harvest she started to lose power and developed a miss. I pulled the injectors and found one to be in pretty bad shape. The mechanic said it looked as though anti freeze had gotten in the cylinder and ate at the injector. He said it could be a head gasket or a cracked head. I haven't pulled her apart yet to find out. I put a sandwich bag over the radiator fill hole and started the machine and sure enough it started to build pressure. Not enough to blow the bag off though. The mechanic said most definitely to look at head gasket or cracked head. I hope the cylinder walls and the piston aren't hurt. Hope this helps you. Good luck. By the way I've got a 510 diesel and that is the cheapest running engine I've ever operated!

You have a 372 or a 354 Perkins, it is most likely head gasket or cracked head. Take oil sample to see if theres any antifreeze in the oil. If there is take the head off and look. good luck
