Remove the input drive sprocket. Inside on the base of the auger tube

If the bevel gears on the bottom are still meshed and the bearing isn't completly out, I would guess that the drive on the top where the elbow is, is the problem. We have had a couple of machines do what you are talking about. What happens is the hex stub shaft on the top of the vertical auger has the roll pin wear off and it falls inside of the vertical auger. Then it doesn't drive the horizontal auger. And if you don't catch it soon enough you will pill up the flighting on the vertical auger. A major expense. We solved the problem by welding a washer in place of the roll pin. After I got into the auger, I found that the vertical auger was being supported by the gears and cross shaft. The bearing casting that is supposed to be bolted to the bottom of the tank has nothing to bolt to. Can I purchase that bottom or will I have to build it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Tooleman, We had a machine years ago that the bottom of the unloading auger broke all to pieces. My brother at that time made a ring to weld on the top of the lite steel. He used 3_8" steel, used the cast iron drive in order to get the right hole spacings. Then welded that ring onto the sidewall of the auger tube.
