What are you chopping,,,we are always trying to speed our choppers up to get a better spread and chop,,not likely a balance problem,,,more likely a poor weld job,,,I have a redekop insert for sale out of a 9600,,,not sure if it would fit though I dont think the 7720 is wide enough. Just a thought,,I am currently running a STS and it already had the insert_rotor. Who did you talk to about the balance problemIJ

Only break gussets off shelling corn, no trouble in beans, wheat, etc. Talked to balancing shop in Ft. Dodge, Ia. Said they could balance chopper, but, that might not be the problem. Seen slow down kit at Stevens Impl. in Illinois, called them, kits were no longer being handled. My chopper has the flat gussets. Factory welds are the ones breaking. Metal FatigueIJ 2900 hrs

sounds like metal fatigue to me. You should maybe be looking at a redekop system,,pretty strong. Never had a minutes trouble with ours. Just a suggestion

Talk to Marshall chopper repair. 507-532-3043. He balances rotors and modifies choppers. He will probably have a slow down kit. I just got one this year for a 8820 and plan to use it on corn. You may want to install an updated rotor that has heavier gussets to prevent this problem also.

THe guys I bought my combine from modified the chopper for the same reason. They simply put a smaller pully on for corn to slow it down. Second they welded stronger triangular gussets on each and every attachment for the blades and then had it rebalanced. I am sure this took some time but doubtful it will ever throw another blade. If you want I can try to get a digital pic and send it to you.
