Combines 7720 corn head

we had the same prob when we fitted a 643 on to a 7720 down where the reverse box sit...we placed another up right next to the old one then cut and plated a large flat curved in the shape of the big pulley on the reverser john deere agaent saw it and took photos that head is still running today on a 9500 it was in 1979 we done the mod hope it helps u

guru, Do you have any pictures that you can send to see what your modifications look like. We have an old style 643 with a 7720 combine and we have the same problem. How big of a job was it to make the modificationsIJ We are trying to decide to go ahead and make the modifications or find a good used 643. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for replies. We ended up cutting out the area of the main frame in the area of mount. Started out a little bit and kept cutting till head fit feeder housing. We then welded in a plate and a bent angle to replace the removed material. Still need to redo mount for shield and some feeder housing shields.

sorry the mod we done was back in 1979 when we brought the first 7720 in to new zealand...ihave pics some where but to lay my hands on them will be hard.....the job is not has big has it looks basicly line the feeder house up with the head and mark ur head we placed another up right in to give us the width to cut and plate where the reverse box fits and then has mentioned b4 u will have to slightly redesign ur panels but this is not major at all hope it helps and good luck
