The 7700 we ran had an electric reverser switch, you can't get much simpler than that, and the variable speed worked just as well as the 7720 that we run now. Not as nice as the 9500, but just as easy to adjust and operate. Maybe you oughtta find an electric reverser, all it took was the flip of a switch. Scrapyards might have one on an old 7700 if you look around. Hope this helps.
