Came onto JD site to see if any of you were talking about engine failure. Cat dealer told us yesterday JD had 47 engines totally fail on the run this year. Something must be going on....Haven't read further down maybe I'm touching a common subject, but we are dealing on trading our 480 for a 580 or 590. Personally I'd like a 970 NH, but anyway, thats what got us talking combines to our Cat dealer...
we lost a engine in our 4920 sprayer this yr. called service man, he checked w_ d-tach to ask about engine codes, and they said whats the ser.n and said ya, your cranks busted. Now this is the good part. Deere put a new engine in a pick-up and a guy drove it from Moline to South Dakota. Dealer came and got sprayer. we had machine back in a day and a half. O.k now thats service. Yes we've had problems w_ this sprayer, but they are working w_ us and getting things resolved.
Sounds like deere has same problems as CIH and 8010combine no testing before going to market. What a bunch b.s. that they can,t get it right from the start.
Hey guys,,,,nobody,I mean nobody's perfect. There working w_ us and everbody else, working the problem. 8010's are comming around along w_ everthing else. No negitive waves mann!!
They better get it straightened out soon as we all know what happens when things are rushed to market before the bugs are worked out. If you dont know just study what happened to Gleaner when the N's came out too early.
The problem is not with the combine coming to market too soon, the engine is used in many other pieces of equipment. The engine had also been out for quite a few years. The problem is with changes in suppliers and them not being up to snuff. Not that Deere should not stand behind their product and their choice of suppliers...
9660 sts 36d header doing 45 bsl durum doing great I was stopped unloading the hopper. n6 engine bearing failed at 320 hours. I have been reading here about several engine failures, and I know of several in our area here. It seems all of the reported failures I have heard of are in the 60 series combines.
