Combines 800 heads

We have had the same problem also. Did you check and see if any of the ball joints on the linkage arms are broken. Thats what usually causes it. Especially if you have hit a hard bump in the road and made the sickle bounce to hard. But we still have it happen once and awhile even with no broken ball joints. And I can't figure out how to stop it from happening either.

We had at least one machine that had to have longer hold down plates installed. They were about a quarter inch longer to prevent sheat from poping out of place. Call dealer with your serial number and then have him check his service bullitons to see if you need the longer hold downs. I believe the measurement is in the bulliton but if not maybe you should measure yours and compare with another head that is not bothering. Can't allways go by the S_N breaks.

Simple answer, yes it is that much better. If you want to get better and spend a little more go with the 8000 series with an SCH sickle.

They are a terrific head compared to the 500 series. They feed much better and can handle larger volumes at higher speeds. If getting a new head make sure you get an air reel to go with it, this will make it the best head you have ever owned.

An 800 head is only so so withoout an air reel, 500 not much difference either, they don't cut low enough and don't feed short beans that well either thats why you definately need to have an air reel, without it you would be very unhappy. I sure hope Agco will have a newly designed head in the very very near future, hope you guys from Agco read this too.

We havent really had any complaints about not cutting low enough around here. I would think if it is, your sickle is angled up too much so I have been told. Dont ask me how to do it, I am just the parts guy, but your dealer ought to be able to tell you. And as far as feeding problems on any heads from 3 series up, I think, you can get a raised feather sheet kit that will help a lot. They are decently priced and are relatively easy to install
