If you dont have them on ,put on the raised feather sheets, I have no problem at all since I put these on .If you are only going 3.5 with a 62 in 50 bu beans you for sure have a problem. IG

I have had a air reel since the late 80's on all of my heads and would not do with out won. But I did demo a 8000 series 30 ft flex on a Challenger Cat combine and it had the raised feather sheets that I was very impressed with how well it preformed. How much down presure do you have on the head. I have found that if the head is set lighter there is a flater area for the beans to go in better.

Short of a different reel I have a couple suggestions. Remove hold downs at rear of feather sheets, flip the sheets and use hold downs to mark individual holds to resecure without the hold down strap in place. That hold down is holding up some material from getting under the auger. There is a great dealer in Ohio that is having these sheets fabricated with a double overed rear lip and or a gauge heavier material to help eliminate any posible cracking with use without the hold downs installed. Another trick we have did short of different real or reel drive is trim the flighting on left and right side to permit reel to be drawn back even further. You will need to drill holes for new back stop for reel. Also turn reel over by hand to be sure fingers don't get into auger if making an adjustment. Could also try bringing auger ahead and down if you don't have any material coming around the back side. Closer metal to metal clearance will help suck the material under. Good luck

We also tried the flexible 2 1_2" hose on a 520 flex. Put one piece of hose on 1_2 the sickle.By far it was alot worse with it on.Ripped it off in a jiffy. jl

I put a Crary wind system on my 830 this year and is worth every penny plus a lot less wear and tear. If you are buying a new head than delete the reel and put on an air reel. That big auger is nice but it creates a big void area. Mike

Thanks for all the replys to my question. We ended up moving the reel back a bit more, by taking out the stop bolts and drilling new locations. We also put a little bit more angle on the reel tines to try and throw the material back into the auger. This reel is just clearing the auger flighting now. As well we adjusted the auger down and forward some, so that it is just clearing the floor. I think that this was the biggest help so far. It is a lot better at feeding now, but is still not 100%. Have not had another chance to try anything else due to the wet weather. It seems like the material is moving across the head pretty good now, but it still seems to start slugging either in the feed chains or at the cylinder. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Dusty
