I have a set of raised feathering sheet off a 30 ft. but the center section if dinged up. they would work for a 25 or smaller. or just put the hose mod on like i did and be happier. let me know if your interested.
You are talking about the raised feather sheet kit. You need that or an air reel to help beans to feed in. They will cover up your regular feather sheets and are made from stainless steel so it will take a while to wear out. The cutter bar can be speeded up by using pulleys from the rigid header. There are 2 or 3 choices to consider with header vibration a possible problem. Kelly
The plates that hold the front end of the sheets down should have a curve up to the rear. Not flat. Some heads went out with this and wore the sheets out on 500 acres or less.
HCC level two reels have been available for a couple two or three years and they swipe every couple inches on cutter bar so that would help. Had a problem in very short beans with that head and reel so we removed safty bolt to prevent reel from coming back to far and then triming flighting at far left and far right to allow real to come back a bit further. That made alot of difference. Of course it would be hard to beat air real or air assist. But by far the cheapest and most successful thing I've seen here is the hose trick. What did you do to hold feather sheets in and is that the point at which you say they are wearing outIJ I don't think the hold downs on these were rolled back to reduce scraping on feather sheet but it wouldn't hurt to champher the contact point. Wasn't it the 500 heads that have a contact area welded onto feather sheet which should wear for a very very long time. Maybe look into that for your 800 if you are still having problems. I'm unsure what you cutting problem could be but I have found that cutting plant as close as possible to dirt works the best for me. May have to tilt cutterbar with adjustment bolt to get it down. Also you may have seen a post earlier where someone reattached skids to get a close profile to ground for a cleaner cut without tilting cutterbar as far. Good luck
