From personal exprience I know that a 8110 will pull a 26ft heavy disc with a packer on hilly ground and as well pulled a 13 shank chisel plow at 5 mph..

Another one to consider would be a 4850. Good strong tractor, give up very little in fuel efficiency. Will pull what you are talking about quite nicely and is nice to drive.

You should check out that Kinze 8640 that is posted here. We have an 8640 that we bought new in '80 and have put about 13000 hours on it. We had to replace the engine at about 7500 hours because a FORMER employee used ether on it when it was warm and then ran it for about 6 hours with a hole in one piston. We have learned that these tractors are very sound if they do most of the pulling from the drawbar instead of the 3-point. For some reason the 3-point puts a lot more stress on the tractor. This seems to show up with engine problems. The Kinze conversion is designed to eliminate this because it eliminates the engine as part of the frame of the tractor. If you check it out you might ask if any transmission or axle work has been done to it. If they are in good shape or have had recent work that is good because they can cost a lot to rebuild. I know a guy who put $13,000 in his transmission. Ours had just a little noise so we had it checked and it cost us about $5,500 to do the top shaft in the tranny. That really didn't dissapoint us because we pushed silage with it for many years and have kept the blade on it since. Anyway an 8640 would pull what you have easy and an 8650 would even be nicer to have. I Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! As far as the articulated JDs.. i would love to have one. The problem is that it is a tractor for doing just tillage and if you hang a blade on the front of them. We have a dairy farm, so it would be running the chopper and probably put on a liquid manure tanker. We need a tractor that is nimble..move it around easy. The articulates are kind of clumsy, but a great tillage tractor. Thanks again! Chad

Go to a sale and get a decent 4960. This will save you at least 20 large over buying the equivalent 8400. The 8200 will pull your equipt. ok, but you will have to add a bunch of ballast. Probably at least two sets of 450lb. rears but not much at all in the front unless using the 3PT hitch for load. Guys with the older but mostly mechanically controlled 4960 really like the smooth shifting transmission and low end power that won't stop. My 8200 is really weak under 1500 thanks to a real tight aneroid. Just fyi. GS
