my machine did just what your talking about except it broke the feeder chain. thanks to the persistence of my dealers service department my combine finally ran with the correct control pressure today. it had a bad teflon o ring in the hydraulics that drive the chopper. it was loosing so much oil that combine was sluggish and alarm drove me crazy. It still has some minor problems but overall is a good machine with alot of capacity and very friendly to operate and service.

Its not really a shaft its a 3 sided bar that is bolted on with 4 bolts on each side. Its right under the feedsr chain take large cover off top of feeder house and you will see it dealers are suppose to bulitin on it I just wanted to help somebody out before they damaged there feeder.

Also check the nut caps on the hydraulic lines on the left side of combine on the brass colered valve takes about 1 5_8 wrench check the one that is hardest to get at mine was loose and it blew the O ring out and oil all over what a mess!

If I was a betting man, given the probabilities of there being less than 250 total 8010's produced, I would say it is now time to "fish or cut bait" for the CaseIH division and its 8010. Given the almost certain exhausted amounts of warranty and service related dollars (updates, policy, etc) spent on the 8010, devising its "exit strategy" would probably be almost prudent at this juncture. However, I wouldn't expect "block men" (territory managers) to be a part of this meeting (wrong salary grade). "Block men" do not decide on fate!

Just curious landsurfer is your number of 250 units would that be the 2004 production or would your numbers include the limted 2003 production as well. The reason I ask is this summer we toured the factory at Grand Island and there must have been at least 150 8010's their wating to be shipped out to dealers. It seems that they must have more then 250 units out their I hope I am wrong because I am a BIG fan of the 2388 combine

My neighbor has 4 and has all the same problems you guys had(he ended up leasing a 2388 to help finish up) said they were going to stop production on 8010s' fwiw. Apparently they are underpowered and it wont handle 30ft draper and cross levees.
