Didn't the Massey Harris combine have a rethrasher and that it was carried over into the Massey Combine line. It's amazing how technology advances.

Old or new idea it works fine. The principle is that it doesn't send partially threshed heads back thru the rotors.I have about 300 hours experience with the CR and it is very effective at threshing hard to thresh heads. Especially wheat white caps.

(The good) I liked it in that it did'nt dump back in the rotor and did away with the elevator chain (The bad) They evidently did'nt test it in rice because at approximately 70 sep hrs ours and two others locally had holes wore in them. The deflector inside was also wore and had a hole in it.

Ok, so there is a wear issue then. About how much was the repair billIJ Thank you for taking the time to post your info.

Is this your first CRIJ What size is it, and what kind of crops do you runIJ After 300 hours, have you had to replace any partsIJ Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

Yes the old Masseys did and it was a weak spot on them especially when picking up swaths. Rocks_dirt would eat them like no tomarrow.

The 865 Massey also had a rethresher offered as standard equipment, although not too many 865's were ever built. This was the last Massey conventional built before the demise of Massey Ferguson.

This is interesting. Do you have much long term experience with the massyIJ I'm curious if their design was as high wear as the new designs seem to be.

I'm not the best authority on Massey combines, but if you go to the Massey Combine page, click the "Photographs" section and view Guy Conans pics, I believe the rethresher elevator can be viewed on the rear drivers-side of the machine. As far as wear is concerned, I have no idea how long Massey rethreshers lasted; - I never saw one up close, only in pictures.
