The reports were that 6000 people were their but if I had to guess I would say that 3 to 4 thousand would be my guess. I did see something that I had never seen at an auction sale there was a tour bus that came rolling in to the parking lot. The farm land averaged around $30,000.00 Canadian a quarter section. One big lot of land went to a buyer in Alberta I think it was about thirty or so quarters. The major equipment went for like the previous post stated. It was quite the auction sale I mean how many farm sales do you go to and there are six 60' air drills and six air tanks and six 36' swathers three grain carts and I think 12 or 13 four wheel drive tractors, 70,000 bushel grain bins. It was a fun day.

Yes that was quite a day. I was on the bus that rolled in. Farm supply dealer in Grenfell rented it and filled it for public relations and to support the local barley sales (If you know what I mean). Very impressive amount of machinery and bins, but a good example of how a farm's size will be limited by the amount of quality help they can find to run the equipment. Ritchie Bros said they had 4500 registered bidders. I agree Al, 4000 people might be how many were there.

Well if there were 4500 registered bidders, there could have been close to 6000 people. I imagine there were a lot of people that went just to kick the tires. Don't really matter how many people, but a lot of these sales goes to show how little your equipment is really worth. My brother in law works in a bank that deals mainly in agriculture, and he always said that farmers machinery is worth less then what they value it at. He mentioned that when they borrow money, they use 60% of what you say its worth as a tool for them to figure out the payments, etc.

Hey Bigsky I had a simlar discussion with a salesman who was at the sale. I told him if the 23's at this sale went for $157,000.00 my 2003 model should bring $135,000.00 at auction and I told him a brand new 06 2388 at auction should bring $200,000. He did not disagree with me so if my math is correct the difference should be $65,000.00. He WANTS $110,000.00 to trade and I am pretty sure I wouldn't even get kissed when the deal was done. I know the dealers have to eat but do they need $1000.00 _lb caviar at my expense lOl Hi Mark

Hey Al: The combines went a little shy out season on pricing. Wardale Equipment's pricing proved that last year. As for Bigsky's comment on equipment values I will sell you all our used STX500 tractos for 195000.00 on our lot. Oh by the way I work at a dealership and I'll give you low rate financing . Better than the bank . let me know how many tractors you want. A big hug from me Al. let's get together for some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches without the caviar. lOl
