The n's may be different but every part is identical to TWD except the gear pump housing. 70272674 vs 70271881= 2WD Compare the two and probably the discharge thread_hole size will be the only thing differentIJ I don't have two to compare. The inlet port is a different angle to get around the FWD driveshaft. I thought the pump was a litte higher in gpm than the 2WD models also. Do you know the price and availability of the front housingIJ The dealers around here are closed till monday. I disassembled the pump more this morning and both bushings in the back housing spun. I got them off the shafts and the shafts and gears look fine. If the back housing is the same as other 8000 or 7000 series tractors then maybe I can get by with replacing that housing and a seal and side plate kit. The front housing has a touch of wear where the gears touched the housing. Do you have specs on wear tolerance. I still have not located a used pump.

The e-shaped seal on the back side of back wear plate looked like it was melted and partially missing. The front wear plate has no such seal. I guess I don't understand the theory of these seals. I thought all these kind of wear plates had those seals to seal the back side of the plate on the pressure side. Could you clue me inIJ I have a 7000 series repair manual but not a 8000.

The pumps are the same capacity as the gears have the same part n. 7000 and 8000 as well. The seal between the gerotor pump keeps trans oil from transferring as does the pump shaft drive seals left in the rear housing. The leakage on the drive shaft of the gear pump is for lubrication of those bushings. Be sure to clean your flow divider. PArt no 70271888 is the seal and plate kit. Kind of pricy at around $300 but not out of line. If you could find another center housing _ pump assy could the outlet be modified to workIJ The housing you need 70272674 IS high at over $1000.00 -gulp

I can buy a 7000 series pump non-FWD for $500. lots of them available. Maybe I could brase up a 45 degree outlet with a hose barb fitting on it and just run a hose to the filter housing. Actually that housing at $1000 sure beats the $2950 price for the whole pump option or a half priced used worn out one. I have cleaned that flow divider probably a half dozen times as I thought that was the problem. I also wonder if I would just do the back housing and a seal kit if it would make the tractor functional again. THanks for all your help!!!!

The packing for the plate is a little hard to figure as compared to what we may be used to. The hard plastic fits tight to its groove and puts just so much pressure on plate to keep it tight to gears which pushes on other plate. I normally have no problem with plates so I order the seals I need separately. Often times I will find hard plastic packing cracked hear or there. Make double sure screen is on left hand filter and screen is toward the inside for that is about only thing I have found to cause your problem. There is a place near Bozeman Mt. and I think it is Atkins that has a FWA. let me know if you need a number and I get it to you. Good luck

I have checked filter and check valve. I took flow rate at output of pump (plugged the flow control secondary)and it varied from 1_2 to 1_4 or less of oem rate at 1500psi. Steering varied also--sometimes kinda okay to almost nothing, standing still. Wierd, because I would think a gear pump would do what it could and not vary from time to time. I think I will take your advice and replace plastic seal under the one plate and try to find back housing from cheaper 7000 series used pump to deal with the bushings that turned and hope that the expensive front housing was not damaged to much by the gears scraping it after the bushings spun. I can't find a spec for gear tooth to housing tolerance.

Had same pump, no pump, poor pump situation in the past. That seems to be caracter of the beast with the style packing they have for them side plates. I completely cleaned steering hand pump and checked relief setting. Found metal in hand pump so I knew something had run amuck at one time or another. This was machines first visit with us so had little known past. We tore down pump to find nothing other than broken packing. Packing maybe got broke from stuck flow control from metal getting in at one time or another. Custumer had cleaned flow control a time or two himself so I don't know what was in it. Screen had to of been left off filter at some time for metal to get in. Normally when screen is left off of filter is will starve gear pump and cause sluggish or no steering. I have seen where filters have been changed and screen left off. Steering will sometimes work right for long period of time and then filter straightens out in housing which allows anti-drain to close. When drain closes it will starve pump and likely eventially score up or siese bushings to shaft. Good luck and fill us in on how it works out.
