Combines 82 N7 Mods

Only Gleaner has W rings and they have for 7", 8", and 8 5_8". Only loewen has shock kits for them older machines. You'll have to have different size drums for them older machines custum made. 7" drum with W-rings will get you very close to same diameter where chain runs as you allways had. R.O.M. and Rolfs friend in Australia is making what they call posi-feed roller for tention drums but don't know if he has it figured how to get into the states yet or if he has them made to fit older machines. Feeders on them older machines usually didn't give so much trouble especially if you run draper head. Feeder usually runs at a better angle to rear feed when draper head is being used and draper is likely giving feeder more even flow as compaired to an old unimproved auger header. Don't know what to tell you on tailings return to cylinder other check the salvage yards and it will be a fair job if you can find one to take off. Good true concave, cylinder bars,and what ever you need for filler bars is best I can suggest. I want to suggest concave bar for trap door which will help but may screw up feeding. Thats something I would try but be ready to remove if feeding is compromised to much.

The" Read Only Memory" is a bit corrupted these days [ R.O.M actually stands for "Rolf's Old Man" ] but we changed the fan_ accelerator roll drive on our 82 N7 from the suspect twin belt version of the earlier models to the heavy single belt of the later versions of the N series. There is room on the inside of the thresher vari- speed drive pulley to machine a land and to press and loctite a pulley onto which matches the later version drive in all respects. Made a significant difference as 30 to 40 H.P. goes into driving those bits. Never had any trouble with it there after. Cheers!

You sure are a creative and inovative old man Max. There are quite a few old rotarys running around out west of use with the C belt drive down to fan and shoe. They updated by replacing pulleys and hub which adds up $$$$. Right around here we have choppers which is driven right off of engine so load was reduced as compared to discharge beaters that pulled the power from that double C belt drive. We still run that double belt as tight as we could and kept pulley on mainshaft in good condition. Take care Rolfs old man Max.
