i have an 82 as well didn't think people ran them any more mine tends to heat up pretty regularly hows your damper working does it knock the chaff off of the screen i have to get of and knock it of by hand some times. is the little fan that blows air across the motor run right because we used to have a 92 super and lent it to a neighbor to cut through mud and the screan right beside the the right tire got clogged with mud and the motor burned up so that may be a problem. well don't know what to tell you. hope that helps Red

I've also experienced overheating with my old 80SP, JD 25 combine, and various farm tractors. After changing the water pump, and thermostat to no avail, I pulled the radiator and soaked it in a pan of water and detergent. The pan was a fence of 2x6 lumber with a 6 mil PVC sheet to hold the water. After soaking for a few hours, I would rinse out as much of the chaff as possible with a garden hose. You have to be careful you don't mangle the fins. Then with the rad upright, and looking through the fins to the sky, I blew out the chaff. The stubborn pieces I poked out with a wire. When I finally saw clear sky throughout the fin area, I carefully straightened all the fins. It took over twenty years of field work before I had to repeat the ritual. Same routine worked on my MF750 last year.
