OK Brian my opinion. We did our 35'er. My best bet is supports were added for the guys that would take in a rock or some similar object and pin it between finger and bottom. We had no trouble but had removed fingers during wheat for crop would come around back side of auger before getting to feeder. We corrected this by adding channel stripper ahead of existing strippers and removing full fingers all at the same time. We did not need the fingers on this 7" flighting auger during beans for it did have an air reel. If you remove your fingers install some hose clamps around shaft to prevent finger holders from floating down the shaft. We did not reinstall the fingers after update. Might be good idea to at least update fingers in feeder area if expecting any foreigns objects. latest I heard is these headers are working great with 3_4" clearance from strippers. Don't know if that would of helped us in wheat but removing fingers and or adding stripper made all the difference. We did add the 4" flighting extentions into finger area on our machine and tucked the filler between the header and feeder under the auger bottom floor to prevent a problem with flow in this transition area. Hope something hear helps you out.
