todd, on the older 1480 is there alot of steering chatter alsoIJ If their is their is an orifice which should be changed in the valve stack to relieve back pressure, did on a number of units. Also change fitting in the steering pump. Easiest way I've found to keep auger from creeping back is install check valve inline, works good, this assuming the swing cylinder is not leaking.

These problems are all fimilair to me, especialy the steering noise. Could you please give a bit more detail on the orifice that should be changed in the valve stackIJ i.e. where, part No. etc. And also some more information like the location and part No. on the fitting that should be changed on the steering pump. Where did you put the check valueIJ Thanks in advance for any help you can give, these problems turn a good days harvesting into a real chore!

brad, the orifice fitting for the steering handpump is no.1272099c1 for a 1480 or 1272098C1 for a 1440-60 this goes in the inlet of the steering handpump. The orifice to replace in the header raise valve(bottom in stack) is no.1301639C1, this is a larger orifice to reduce back pressure allowing header to lower better when trying to hookup. Still have to slow engine RPM but does help. The pilot operated check valve just gets put in line right behind the valve stack, just making two short pieces of hose.
