Combines 830 Sickle Vibration

Is it possible you have a bearing out of the augerIJ I would take both ends of the auger out completely and check for broken bolts. Curt

Bendt or warped augers are not unheard off. You need to set up a solid reference line or point somehow to measure from and slowly rotate the auger. It most likely will show up in the middle. A good welder can straighten them out with a torch and water.

Are you saying the sickle shakes when the auger is turningIJ But there is no shake when the auger is stoppedIJ Have you checked for binding in the augerIJ Can you turn it easily by handIJ How about the head drive shaft or combine drive beltsIJ Is something there out of alignment or bindingIJ Is your variable speed in good shapeIJ Tom in MN

Be sure to check the back of the sickle and see if it hits the frame at the end of the stroke.(at the drive end) Have had to grind of some on both a 500 and new 800 flex decks. If the sickle does this long enough it will break the stabilizer at the back and break off the ball joint. This is a design flaw, the factory needs to machine off a small area to allow the back side of the sickle some "breathing" room.

Are you saying that the back (rear) of the sickle hits the sickle bar when the wobble box is at either end of its strokeIJ Your post reminded me about removing the first (lH) wear plate on our 525 head to give the sickle some breathing room. It is definitely a design flaw! Tom in MN

Yes, the back side of the sickel bar, that the sections bolt on to, at the drive end. The sikelbar contacts the metal frame that the wear shims and gaurds bolt to. Grinding off approx. 1_4-1_2 in. of material for a distance of 10 in. from the end of the frame should give the sickel enough space. The drive end does not run in perfect parallel to the frame. There is a slight front to back motion that can be seen when you run the drive by hand. Hope this helps. You won't need to beef up the stabillizer or add the pulley weight.

I think we better ckeck out ours on the 530. In the past we have broke the sickle at the drive end as well as the ball joint and A arm. Would a short connecting rod between the wobble box the the sickle take care of the problemIJ And also, what is the the purpose of a flywheel on the wobble boxIJ What would it gain meIJ
