Here is an old PAMI evalution you can look at. Note that they point out that the engine is at or near maximum power at all times, and it is what limits the capacity of the combine.

Is there a engine upgrade for these combines, like the 8.3 cummins.

we had a 8560, the engine hp was what limited the capacity of the machine. We had the governor adjusted to kick in sooner, that helped alot. That engine is the same as in dodge trucks I think they are putting out more hp in the trucks. So you would think that a upgrade would be available. we traded ours on a 8570 had the engine hp jacked to 260, now thats a machine with capacity. the 8560 we had was very reliable, when we traded, it had over 3200 hours

If your worried about the 8560 and it's size get a 8570 all question's are answered. We own a 8560 run an 8row corn head and 20foot grain table only small when in a hurry.Would upgrade to 8570 ourself but ask ourself's why we would want to burn at least 3 gal. of fuel more an hour and hire and buy new equipment to keep it running at capacity.
