Can a 9720 handle a 30 ft head in fifty bushel beansIJ In decent wheat have been told that 24' is enough for the machine to handle (75-85 bushels soft red winter) We currently have a 20' white flexheader that we could use for wheat. Thought we would be under utilizing the machine size if we did not go to a bigger head for soybeans. Have heard different opinions on the final drives, some folks have stated problems when using duals. What do you thinkIJ Also, any advice with regard to the variable speed rotor drive, anything we can do to try and prevent problemsIJ Did you have any problems with the front beaterIJ It has also been suggested to update this. Apparently white had a different beater assembly to use for white or edible beans. Your advice please. Will be harvesting wheat, soybeans, white beans and hopefully direct cutting some kidney beans, hopefully I can slow the rotor down enough and still maintain throughput. Also, RJT, would you mind if my mechanic were to give you a call once we get into the machine. As far as harvesting will this combine produce a sample as good as any new machine on the market today, if set up properlyIJ Thanks JW

30' head works fine in 50 bu beans. No trouble with final drives and I had 30.5's with 18.4 x 38 bell band duals on. Also had Mauer tank extension on to hold 440 bushels. I belive this was the one for a Gleaner but we made it fit. I also had a crary air reel on my 1020 header. That takes 30 hp to run. Don't remember any problem with the rotor drive other than the rock causing the shaft to twist. Front beater generally no problem, but if you get in green stem beans or tall gren weeds it sometimes could start wraping. You'l hear it, just back off and let it clear itself out. I don't think White offered any options for changeing them beater for edible beans, but I know that farmers were rebuilding it themselves for this. If you could find some one who ran edible beans they could tell you how it was done. I raise seed beans for three companies now, but back then just Pioneer. They gave out an award each year for best sample and clean out. My whites took 1st place for 4 years in a row compared to over 100 other growers at my plant. I have a Gleaner now and can't get within 25% of the top. On corn I quit useing my screener, Don't need it with the Gleaner either. Yes you can call me at 320-523-1099. Ron
