What kind of trans is this sunstrandIJ I am not familar with it. I have a 760 and am always looking for a low houred 860, but would agree that the 6 may not have the power I am used to with the 540 in my machine. Always looking though and do not find many low houred like that.

760Diehard, The sunstrand is the brand of the hydro, previous to mid 84 it was an eaton, which was known to give trouble. it was a good hydro, but not big enough. the sunstrand is the only way to go. for reference, the 6 cylinder is about 150 horse power, where a v8 would be about 180hp or 209 with the power kit. i do not think a 760 v8 had as much power as the 860 v8, but i am sure your machine has more than the machine for sale. feel free to email me, depending on what you are doing with the machine it might be great...or it might be terrible...bradh_44@hotmail.com brad

dad talked to the salesman on monday of this week and the machine was coming in later that day. if the machine is half as good as it is supposed to be, it is excellent.

I looked at the combine yesterday (before I read any of these posts, coincidentally!). It's a nice appearing machine, looks like it has been shedded all of it's life. 30' 2381, spreader, no '83 updates, not too much "home made and handy". I wouldn't be afraid of it, but keep talking on the price. It's awfully dry out there, and I can't think that crop conditions would support a $10k 860.

i dunno, if it as nice a machine, you would be hard pressed to find anything that would cut more wheat rhan an 860 for that kind of money. we have three, all v8s and high houred and think the world of them. how everm being a pre 85 model hurts its value alot. and it might be the perfect machine for a poor wheat year because that 6 cyl does not have alor of power lol. brad
