Haven't even tried it actually, we are running in real flat ground. You still gotta be on your toes without the auto-height, by the end of the day you are definitely ready to get out. If we go to a bigger head we will for sure have to set something up. I will keep you posted. Do you know if the Massey auto-height is any goodIJ I don't know if a guy could even come up with one but if you could would that would be the easiest to set-upIJ any thoughts would be appreciated. b-rad

The Massey header control works great. I had an 850 with a 9120 head for 10 years and it worked fine. I now have a 9510 and a 925 full finger head and a 750 with a 9120 head. The Massey cuts just as low as the JD. JD had to come out with the full finger head to have something that would feed as good as the 9120. Anyway, after all this rambling I hope I have answered your question.

I have an old 1859 18 foot with the hinniker floating bar with a JD header control, but the wobble box side keeps dragging. I have the tire pressure set per the book, but have worn through the skidplate on that side. Does anyone have poly replacements for them or should I look for a newer number headIJ This is the old style wood bat and I would really like to go to a U2 at least. What number would you suggestIJ looking to stay with about that same width, but may go smaller to fit in the shed better. Maybe a 16IJ Thanks

Ii is my understanding, that you can add the JD header control to the Massey. I looked at a 860 a few years ago. the man ran a JD head, and used the Jd header control. If I remember right he said he bought the combine half of the control unit, and just mounted it to the Massey. Joe

Shoup has poly for the Massey heads. To help with the digging on the left side try leveling the head, or slightly raising it on the left side. A lot of times the feederhouse is slightly twisted down on the left side, and raising the head where it mounts solves the digging problem. I was having trouble with my 20ft 1859 untill I raised the left side one notch( lowered the left hook)made all the difference. Of course your springs must also be properly adjusted. Another thing to check, is the l bracket below the wobble box( the one with the roller chain hooked to the cam like thingy). this bends, and you can't get poper adjustment on the tension spring. Hope I helped Joe
