Well I found out what went wrong on the trans. The trans brake failed, there is a cone pressed on the input shaft which split and was loose. So when the collar moved up against it to slow down the trans it didn't hit anything solid anymore. The dowls on the reverse shift fork were gone or worn off. From trying to shift it I guess with out slowing down the trans. Thats why it shifted alright when cold as the oil was stiff and at end no reverse at all when the fork was wrecked. The bearings on the trans. shafts were mariginal and a couple were bad. I replaced them all. The oil pump on the side was all full of filings etc. which didn't help the bearings for sure.
