I tried this as a way to get the auger on my 850 to sit in the rest. I drilled a new hole in the auger bracket. But discovered it didn't really help. Check to see if all your friction pads where the vertical auger pivots on are still intact and not worn out. If one or two of the pads are broke off, worn down or missing it causes the end of the auger to hang lower so that it will not slip up onto the rest.
