I do not know if the 540 in the 860 can handle it. The original engine in my 860 through a rod through the side of the block just and I mean just after the new warranty expired. It was from a under torqued rod bolt from the factory. Any way after a lot of writing and finger pointing I recieved a letter from the supplier of the engine to Massey which states they had told Massey the engine were turned up to high as it was. I have a 2745 with the 540 V8 and it is only rated at 140 PTO horsepower. ****PS the repair bill for the 860 was just over $16,000.00 when Canadian money was worth something.****** I am not sure I would want to chance turning up the power any more unless I researched VERY VERY carefully.

I saw some literature on a 540 Perkins that had twin turbos and intercooled,it was rated at 320 horse, this was for a marine application where cooling is not a factor.

I don't think you will have any trouble. I have bin around these 540's for 25 years they are tough. I have only had to go through two in my life. One was sucked full of dirt, the other got realy hot.

If the Massey designers didn't include the turbo as stock item with the V8, I suspect they have not allowed for the additional torque in the driveline. You may be just heading for more problems!!!
