Why the new headIJ Some 8650's that were turned up to 280 to 290 pto hp developed cracks in the liner bores that reduced the liner protrusion. They then had trouble holding head gaskets. The factory spec is only 235 or so hp, never have seen one this low, most in our area are 265 or so. Keep the radiator clean is the biggest thing.

This one in particular has not been turned up. It was on the dyno and put out 250 PTO. Not sure why they put the head onIJ Good question to ask. Any other problems you know ofIJ

Always heard bad things on the 50 series articulateds. Mostly had to do with the engines

We have a JD 8650 with just under 6000 hours on the clock. Only money we've had to spend is to have the injector pump reconditioned (5700 hrs) and have had to replace the water pump twice over the last 10 years. Other than that, no complaints at all. They are a very reliable tractor in my opinion.
