Combines 8680 how long is the belt

I don't have an exact measurement but the belt must be about 10-12' long. It has a splice in it. I'm on my 2nd one but my dealer_Agco replaced it last fall..so far so good...they also installed new wider seals on the sides to keep the chaff from getting under it. The levelling auger has just flighting on it with flighting running in opposite directions from the centre. I think the auger may be what is damaging the conveyor belts..there is not a lot of clearance between the auger and the belt and if a small rock was to go through the combine I can see it getting jammed in there and damaging the belt.

We are on our 3rd one in 2 years. must be 20' long. Our dealer modifies the auger to even out the flow of material. We might be getting rid of ours and getting a 2388 case if we can get good dollars for our 8680.

How deep is the flighting on the leveling auger, if the little rock didnt hit the flighting would it steel jam or would it hit the center shaft. Thanks for the info. Swtvid

In what did your dealer modify the auger, raise it up or down, did they move it forward or back and has it seemed to helpIJ What way was the belt damage Terries in the center or on the sides or was it so other kind of damage I though I hear somewhere that AGCO was slowing the belt down some, is that true and if so did it helpIJ Thanks Swtvid

I think the auger mod that deadeye is referring to is replacing it with one with more agressive flighting. Agco wanted to change it last year on my machine but we didn't see a need for it. They left the auger with me in case I ever need it. The belt damage that I have seen is always at the outer edges and at the splice. As I said in my earlier post my belt is still showing no signs of damage since being replaced last fall. Since then my machine has done about 300 acres of soys, 400 of corn and 500 of wheat... I have had several other minor problems with the combine but overall I am satisfied with the combine.
