Combines 8820 TII Straw Walker Hood Replacement

I do not think any improvements were ever made. I f you get a new one the sides, back, and top are all seperate peices and you have to weld them together. I think agresive power washing and sitting outside all the time is hardest on these parts because the chaff gets in between the double side wall and never dries out, just starts rusting.

I replaced the ones on my 4400 this fall. I got them at a salvage yard @ $150.00 per side. They were in real good shape. Whoever had the other old combine must have kept the side cleaned out and never had a straw chopper on it. I think the weight of the chopper is what broke mine down. The owner before didn't take it off when he ran corn. I did all the work my self so it wasn't to bad but for a 8820 you'll need help. Have you checked on the price of new ones yetIJ They were $500.00 per side for a 4400. Where are you locatedIJ Good luck

I have replaced the part you are wanting to replace on your combine. the new John Deere part does come in pieces. There are aftermarket hoods out there that come in one piece. They are alot less expensive and look just as good. We then painted the rear hood to match the rest of the machine. Had a body shop mix paint to match another piece of sheetmetal on the machine. looked just like new when done. I believe that the price on the aftermarket hood was about $1500 compared to about $3000 for Deere parts.
