Combines 90 9600 two stage throttle

go to your deere dealer and pick up the Throttle position sensor ( I don't think you will need the actuator too,since it already has one) for an 8000 series tractor and graft it to your 9600 and when you're finished, try to figure why Deere in all it's infinite wisdom didn't think we are smart enough to control the engine in a normal fashion.

If by "in a normal fashion" you mean a completely variable throttle then the answer is this. Deere was getting complaints about blown hydros. Turns out that when you run around the field or yard with the the engine at half speed and the hydro at full tilt they tend to go kabloowie. Deere's K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) solution was to have the engine operate at either full throttle or idle.

now I have heard most everything. (just when you thought you have, something new falls from the sky). If it was so bad for hydrostats, Deere would have a saftey throwout so you couldn't even move unless the rpm was at full. I notice you can still move a 9500 to full hydro at idle or half speed. I still think the switch for a throttle is a stupid idea. The potentiometer is a way better deal.

As for the hydro..all hydraulic systems, hydrostatic included, are protected by relief valves and will not allow more pressure than they are set for, regardless of rpm of the pump. low rpm of the pump will not injure the drive motor in any way. But, you won't go very fast. I still think the two position throttle switch is pure Barbara Streisand.
