Thanks Bazooka for the reply. Your right about the older reels working better. Before I had this new 925 header I bought a JD824 (I think that was the number)and used it one year. It was a 1983 model with the wooden bats and wire teeth. YES you could get it right down into the head. Also get it back so it would HIT the auger flighting with the reel teeth. One thing I didn't mention on the other post was I took my wire welder and put a bead on the leading edge (top front) of auger flighting. We use to do this when auger flighting was wore out. It made the front rough and did a lot better job of getting ahold of the crop and moveing it towards the center.My beans were planted in 36" rows.
