I have not ran a 30f but we use to run 25f and this year we bought Macdons. One 30' 974 flex draper, and one 972 25'. We have not got the 972 in the beans yet (it's still in milo),but I've been cutting with the 974 and after a couple hrs to get use to it the best word to describe it is WOW. We have the hyd. center link with float optimizer. I was cuting double crop beans with the pods almost touching the ground and was able to tip the head forward to cut the low hanging pods with the rest of the plant. I was getting durt on the sickle. The feed is worth it, no surging of the cylinder. The 974 flexs oprox every 10ft, so I am cuting with 3-10ft heads. I am not sure that in every condition the md will out cut a fex but in 95% of the time it will walk away. The down side might be the weight, Ours weighs 7,050 lbs with transport and 6,500 without transport. I don't know what a flex weighs.
