What I do is limit the flow in the front feederhouse with the block for corn. Cut it off(3_8") approx.on one end and weld on the other end. For corn run with the long side down and for other crops run with long side up. This will allow the front drum to only go up a small amount. The back feeder set as per regular for grain. Make sure there is no problems with crop catching on your feederhouse. I have never slipped a back clutch since doing this! Make sure you have the shocks installed. Add the air reels to this and the only time you will slip the front clutch will be on very rare occasions.

Talk to NDDAN about this, he is located at Hurtt equipment in Hoopple N.D.he has a kit that lowers feeder floor 1" and gets rid of the hump between the two chains. We did this to our machines and made a huge difference makes perfect sense when you see it.

Couple things you need to check out after you go back in postings hear and on combine forum site to read topics on feeders. You'll find info on tilted floors with humps removed. What has also happened is some guys have installed W-rings on tention drums which could of hurt them in a couple ways. First on front drum pry up the chain to be sure chain slats can not hit braces at top of front feeder on the '97 and prior machines with tiltable front mount. This can be fixed by adding a shim between drum stop pad and its mount. Second is some guys have installed W-rings on rear drum with it still being the 8" drum. This will cut down clearance under drum. This has been corrected by removing the top pads and replaceing the washers behind drum stop with smaller diameter 5_8" washers. Be sure you have clearance to bottom of grain tank and I haven't heard of any clearance problem yet. I think the other guys have mentioned the importance of shocks and hopefully you allready have them. Also you could find the floor at tail end of front feeder coming apart or hole in floor under rear tention drum. No obsruction to flow in this area is allowed in some conditions. Best of luck
