I don't think the New Holland yellow one's have the problem, looks like it's red CIH cousin may have some problems with fire or could just be bad luckIJ They are not the same combine. A lot different so should not have the same problem. Dealer here sold one CR960 and it seems to have run this fall with no problems. Ilnh

Please be assured that the CR's DO NOT have a fire issue. That doesn't mean that it can't happen. In fact I know of two incidents of fires. These were smoldering chaff. One was an acumulation of chaff at the rear of the exhaust manifold. A relocation of a Wire harness stoped the problem. The other was smoldering chaff dropping off on bean stubble causing a field fire on a windy day. Really the CR is much easier to keep chaff from gathering especially above and behind the rotors. NH CR'shae the best chaff handling and Straw chopping system on the market. Believe on a windy dry day there is an unbelievable amount of chopped up straw flying around.

At work I have ridden on field demonstrations with a number of different operators. Some had older TR's, Gleaners, CIH, and John Deere owners. Everyone one was impressed with it as was I. The machine can outcut just about anything out there today. Mechanically they improved everything that I ever thought could have been better on the old TR combines. Personally I wouldn't want all of the optional computer systems, just a basic machine. I still have an older Deere cyl machine myself but if I ever won the lottery I wouldn't be afraid to buy one. Are you near the Deere dealer in N Il that has one with zero hours on itIJ If so you ought to grab that thing for what their asking.

It's Kleine Equipment, looks like they have five stores. I would try the Galesburg one at 1-800-217-7002. $209,000 for a CR940, 30' head and 8r corn head. All new. Ilnewholland

The story goes that the guy that bought it was a big JD customer. Rather than let him run that machine the dealer got JD to basically give him a new Deere even up for the NH. The ad says it has 0 hours. I don't know how true this is but thats what a guy told me the other day.

NH is going to be installing a deflector by the manifold to keep a consant wind on the manifold which they said in testing prevented any accumulation of chaff
