I have a 97 9400 ,I had trouble with sending unit and changed it and it is fine now. I just stuck a soil thermometer in rad when it read hot on the guage and temp was ok,the thermostats should also be changed as they can get sticky. The second year I had it a update for the injection pump was done and it helped a lot, I was not happy with the power and apparently the pumps were not set up right from the getgo. I had trouble unloading on the go and the hills but now no problem. Also make sure the air to air cooler fins are not pluged or bent over( I got in there with a power washer and bent some over and had to remove it and straighten them out) it does not take much to bend them as they are aluminum.

reply to sundowner, Could you please elaborate on the injection pump update from DeereIJ This combine was bought new from factory and as I mentioned has the 9410 engine. It has always been underpowered and has heating problems anytime it gets above 85 degrees. Today I changed thermostat, electric fuel pump, and finger strainer in fuel tank. Machine ran fine for an hour then engine overheated. I idled it to cool down, started again and hydralic overheated. let me also mention I put on new fan belt, have it on high speed, and new idler spring. I run a four row corn head and have most trouble in soybeans with a 20 foot head.

Our unit was new also,I was told that the pump had no reserve for unloading or climbing up a incline I would have to pull the hydro back unloading as it would lose rpms and not come back. They called me in the summer and it was a serial no. thing and mine fit into it. Made a huge difference after it was done. As far as overheating issue, you did not say if you had established that the engine is running hot, dont go by the gauge as some of them were had bad grounds, I looked it up in my records and I did change the gauge. As far as the hydralic oil goes most times it is in the unloading auger when it swings back the cancel switch on top of the turrent needs adjusting, just neutral cab switch to see if that stops the oil overheating.

if you are having trouble in beans, take your filler plates out if you haven't already. It made a hell of a difference in our 9410.
