I cant believe you are running a 30 foot head on a 9500!! I'm not sure, but are the cylinders fitted to carry that much weight. Also, i feel that you getting to run that fast in wheat is not too shabby!! WE own a 9500 and have a 6 row corn and 22 foot bean. I can run over 4 cutting wheat, but if you go much higher you are loosing to much out the back making 80 plus bushel per acre wheat. On wet corn I run 3.5 to 4.4 21%-30%. That was this year, but corn was 210 bpa also. Plan to start cutting beans after lunch tomorrow, and still we will cut the field.

Around here it is not unusaul to see a JD 9500 or a 7720 with a 30ft header. One of these days we might get a 9550 with a 30ft header.

The 30ft head is more than it can handle at higher speeds. You start running out of grain handling area. I was cutting beans today with a 9500 with a 25ft head at 3.8 to 4.2 mph. That was in green stems yielding around 40bpa. It has trimpe rasp bars wwhich did improve crop flow through the cylinder and increased capacity.

9500 with a 930 header on it is not a rare sight down here at all. As far as I am aware the hydraulics are the same as on the 9600(on Aus. spec machines) and hence handles the front no worries at all weight wise. It also has heavy rims on the front wheels, but thats about it. The reason why we, and many others have opted for the 9500 with a 30ft head over a 9600 was that we were assured that in crops lighter then about 24 bushell (8 bags) the 9500 should be able to go acre for acre with the bigger 9600 but at less cost. (or at least that was the theory). Getting it to do this in certain conditions in another story all together. My big problem with the way I'm getting it to perform, is that it has exactly the same sieve area as the CTS combines (which I have seen do 8 mile in a 50 bushell crop and not throw grain) and not much less then the STS's and yet that seems to be my biggest weakness, overloading the sieves.

We ran four 9500s in 99, 9610s in 2000 and STS this year. After all, I can tell you, you're doing very good with your 9500. There is no way you will ever get close to a 9600 or even an STS capacity. The 9500 is simply smaller, has one walker less than a 9600 and therefor a smaller sieve area. If you want 9600 capacity you have to buy one. The CTS does so much better becaus its tine separators are a lot more efficient than walkers are. Therefor you can do part of the separating process with the tines, that cylinder and the sieves have to do in your 9500.

have u tried taking out the filler plates on the 9500. We have had no problems with capacity running in 105 bu. wheat here in ontario, canada with a 25 ft head. were running about 3 to 3.5 mph
