Combines 9500 question

You can leave the inserts in if you like, if your switching back and forth from corn to soyas it's not a big deal, the filler bars must come out for small grains and left in for corn and soya beans We just got rid of our 9500 for a 9659sts.

We have a 9500 and we have always used the filler plates on just corn. We were having trouble plugging the cylinder picking beans especially weedy stuff. We also use trimpe bars and we did have an increase in capacity using them with a 25ft flex platform.

What do you mean by "filler bars"IJ

If it's the same filler plates I"m thinking of you take strap iron thats the same width as the opening in the concaves and put them clear across the front in the first two or three rows so that the first wheat that comes in that's still covered in chaff won't fall in right away and has a chance to get rubbed by the cylinder and scrape the chaff off.

Farmguy where are you located IJIlive just south of Trimpe .. We just put new raspbars in our 9600 but went with deere instead of Trimpe .. thought they might be tohard on wheat and soybeans .. thanks

I am talking about filler plates. The metel plates that mount between the rasp bars on the cylinder to prevent corn ears from passing between the rasp bars. I have read in JD literature that these can be left in for other crops, just wanted to know what most people did that used them.

CORRECT

I sugest u use the KUCHER Filler bars, there much lighter and easier to insert into the cylinder.

The Kucher bars look cheap, but they do and excelent job, they are a little flimsy but thats a good thing, cause they don't bend if a stone bangs against the cylinder before it enters the stone trap. They are much easier to bolt into the cylinder the odd bolt bracket breaks off but can be easily welded back on to the bar.
