I have completed the steering wheel project. The new smaller steering wheel from a 9550 (it's used on several other machines as well) will fit right on a 9500 combine. The cost is $65.00. You will also need to replace the bolt in the telescoping adjustment cover. The reason being that the new wheel is thicker in the center than the old steering wheel. The original bolt is too short to allow the telescoping feature to lock at a given height. The orginal bolt is an M8 x 40 which needs to be replaced with an M8 X 50. To replace the bolt push the cover off from the back side of the adjustment collar. For some reason Deere shipped my steering wheel to my dealer loose without packing along with other parts. This meant that my wheel came to me somewhat "beat up". My parts man gave me 15% off for the damage. I could have returned it but felt that I could live with the damage.
