Combines 9600 Fires

My cousins 9610 had a fire in there this season,,,it was cause from a weld that wasnt made right at the factory on the magnetic clutch. check that as far as cleaning it ,,we have never had a problem with the 9600's we have had till his went up. He had to replace the shaft at his expense, $1400 Canadian. ouch

When you take off the sheild in the hopper to grease the bottom drive line universal, you can get a blow gun in behind the gear case and blow chaff and dust out the right side. Helps to have a shop vac sucking at the same time -- put the hose in the hole on the right side behind the variable speed sheaves. If you do it every year before you wash the machine it cleans out great, but the first time, if it is all caked in there, takes a lot of digging. Also a great idea to clean all the crud out around the gear case. Hope this tip saves some combines. Rosco
