I have used the deere 80-90 oil, never tried any synthetics. The drain interval for the reverser is WAY too long, in wheat and beans the reverser doesnt get to warm and is usually ok thru a harvest season. For corn I change the oil weekly as the heat buildup really breaks it down, and a qt. of lube is cheap compared to a rebuild. 100 sep hrs. would be about the max I would go when working the gearbox hard. The countershaft gearcase gets checked every other day for level and I usually take a whiff of how it smells, when it starts to get darker and smell like sulphur, I change it out. Over 4,000 acres a year I usually change it twice. To drain the case, a 28mm socket fits over the pipe plug, you may have to hold the drain tube with vice grips if it wants to turn. Use a gallon jug with the side cut out for a drain pan and also find a funnel that will work for both filling and draining the case. The loading auger case oil can run a long long long time, just keep it filled to spec. Hope this helps, Gg
