Combines 9600 rasp bars

Slugging is usually cause by poor feeding from the platform. I have my 9500 set somewhere between 2 and 4 on cylinder height and running about 375 RPM cylinder speed. As long as the platform feeds evenly, things work out well like that. Check the placement of your auger, is it close to the stripper plate, how far off the bottom of the tableIJ Your manual will have all the suggested dim's. Good luck~~!

We have a 1995 9600 and the first set of bars were put on wrong at the factory this made it sound like it wanted to growl all the time in wheat and the darn thing did a great job of thrashing wheat but when we went to put in filler bars for corn they wouldnt fit. Did you use filler bars in your cyclinder in cornIJ If not the cyclinder bars go in the middle two holes in the spider have fun and good luck.

Bars will always wear towards the center before on the outside. We put new bars in our 9610 last year at 800 hrs. They were in about the same shape you describe yours. If the cerration is worn off the grooves, then they need to be replaced. Do not run them until they're slick. Before we replaced them it was real hard to cut tough beans. After the replacement it nothing to run 5.5mph where before it was hard to run 3.5.pushing our 30ft. flex. A good way to tell is the quarter test I read about in a Deere catalog. Take a quarter and put it on the backside of one of the grooves. If the top of the groove doesn't come up to at least Washington's chin, then the bars are worn. New bars will go up past the tip of his nose. It is just a real simple test Deere talked about in that particular catalog. Hope this helps.

Take your filler plates out and make sure the feeder house is running on the fast sprocket. It seems the best use for john deere filler plates are for four-wheeler ramps.
