I can't go to a twelve row head. Probably an 8 row in a few years. I already have too much red, yellow and blue paint. Not saying green is any better, but from a value aspect the non-green makes me nervous, thus the move towards green. Maybe I'm looking at this thing wrong. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

last fall we ran into the same problem. We plant with a 12 so we thought a six row would be needed. We started the harvest with a six and it did the job but the 9650 was just playing with it, so we tried an eight row and ended up buying it. It worked great as long as the planter drove fairly straight,plus he wasn't even trying to plant it REAllY straight like he will this year. It took some geting used to but we really covered a lot more ground. Hope this helps.

I think that your width may create a problem on 30 inch rows.

My 9750 has 20,8x42 r2's on front and just switched the rear from 18.4x30's to 28lx26's. To say it was a big improvement is an understatement. We had to put triples on the front last year to get the crop in. With the skinny rears, the back end would sink...front would soon follow. Never stuck it with the triples, but worried about strain on finals. Haven't been stuck with it since the change and we harvested 400+ acres of rice in standing water. STS machines are big time heavy in the rear. If row spacings allow, I'd sure go with the wide tires in the back. I found mine in a bone yard off of a 550 Massey combine. Bolted right up and they even tracked perfectly with no rear axel adjustment. Inside of front tire even with inside of rears. Got luckey on that one.

Good luck Don! Kinda makes me cringe to think of ya changing colors but, I'm more understanding this week than I would have been last week! NH Credit screwed up their lease plans last spring because of the "new" lines coming out. I don't know how they will hold on to their customer base with all these changes taking placeIJ Hey, how about that MF RotorIJ I thought maybe you would lean that wayIJ Best to you, JD

NHDon or should I say JDDonIJ (just kidding),You may be on to something here. Buy green this year and go trade back to yellow next year for a better deal. Who was your New Holland dealer that is goneIJ Down in my part of the state I still have 5 new holland dealers within 40 miles and 6 more in 100 miles. I almost use all of them to get the best deals. I suppose we have more new holland dealers because we have a lot of cattle and hay here. Matter of fact we have less John Deere or CIH dealers than New Holland or Agco_Hesston dealers. It would be nice if you could demo a CR with that STS. let us know how you like the STS. IlNewholland

Well the STS broke down before it even got to our field. Had to order a part, maybe sometime Tues. Report is that max speed is 3.5 miles per hour w_a 30' bean head becausr of the sickle speed. We're running 5.2-5.5 in 61 bu. beans and kinda green stems. N.B Walders Cissna Park, Il. was our dealer. Now we have a choice of 35 miles to a CIH_NH dealer who knows nothing about it all, another 35 miles the other way who isIJ, and one 55 miles that is gaining. The problem seems to be that NH changed floor plan rules to 3-4 month and then 10-12 % interest or pay for the used machine on the lot. So you can see why dealers don't want to trade with me. They want to trade for junkers to avoid this. I have tried to deal with at least 6 dealers to no avail. Including three out west where I harvest wheat. Interestingly enough three local banks have turned us down for a decent interestcombine loan because they want more collateral. That is the 2 year old combime, Header and corn head does not provide enough collateral for a $72,000 loan. Hog wash. My combine depreciated by half, according to the book in two years.Kinda harsh!

I am very much impressed with the MF combine.My situation is about money. That $ potential to go green is our motivation.Jon Deere is getting rid of their used 9600's right now by shipping them to Brazil. Most other brands can't do that. So the trading market for JD's should be a lot better. JD shipped lots of their older 7700's, 6600's etc. to Mexico. That seemed to work too.
