Combines 9650STS or 9650 walker

I'm running an STS and am very happy with it over my 9600. Grain quality is much better especially in wet corn and dry beans. I am also able to run faster with a 30 foot bean head and 8 row corn head. I have seen no disadvantages. Cost is higher, but I think resale will be much better. I wouldn't be surprised if Deere drops conventionals.

A six row would waste a lot of the capacity of the 9650 STS or conventional unless you want to run at a high speed (+6mph) all the time. Grain quality will suffer unless the machine is kept fairly full. 9550's are very popular around here and work well on 6 rows and 25' heads.

I would be pretty shocked if Deere dropped conventional combines altogether. A rotary just doesn't make for an all crop, all condition combine. Spring sales of the STS machines were quite high compared to the conventionals, but by this fall they were selling at a 1 to 1 ratio. There's still a significant market for conventionals out there.
