Combines 9650STS

Here is what one of our salesman reported to me this fall: New owner of a 9650STS was using a 930F platform (he previously had a 2188 and 30ft.) in soybeans. He was in some green stemmed beans and was able to push the hydro lever all the way forward with no slugging or pull on the machine. The platform was actually not going fast enough to cut the beans off, so our technician had to speed it up. Just to let you know, the combine in 2nd gear full hydro is 7.3 mph. Thats capacity. There are other guys that we had that were very happy with them. Sold 7 last fall. Sold that many so far this year I believe. Talk to some of the other guys on here. They will tell you the same thing. ENJOY IT!

He's telling the truth. You can go faster and cut a cleaner crop and not have any loss. It does excellent in corn also. Push the stick on the dash and roll on!

Are you drilling your beans or planting them in rowsIJ My neighbor has a 9650 STS with a 925 flexhead. he said he got into some of his drilled Roundup ready beans where the stems were really green, and he said he had to slow it down because the header kept trying to plug.

I plant my beans in 15" rows and have not really had a problem with feeding. The new "F" series platforms with the full finger auger has really helped in that regard. We also cut at a slight angle to the row to make the feeding even smoother. The challenge has always been loss over the sieves or straw walkers on the 9600 and the 9610's. We ran CIH before and had power and rotor problems in the conditions I mentioned before. It seems that the stair step design of the STS has been able to overcome some of the ailments from what I understand.

That machine should do fine in 15" row beans. My neighbor drills his beans in 7" rows. We also had a really wet year last year. The beans averaged about 60 bu and produced a lot stem, and the stems did not dry down good.

Thanks for the information. Are there any tips that can also enhance the "harvesting experience" for the operator (ME)!IJIJ It almost seems like a "too good to be true" scenario, but I hope this is not the case. I appreciated the rotary experience from a quality concern that the Axial-Flow machines gave us but was disappointed in the performance in tough conditions, therefore the move to the Maximizer. Deere appears to offer the best of both worlds with the STS machines. TRUEIJ
